Hello everyone, this is my first post on tek-tips. I am looking for an easy way to transform text in Illustrator.

I would like to take text that is NOT 3d, and make it appear to be in perspective, so that the beginning of the text is closer and the end further away. This is not the best example, but something like this:

text.gif

I can do this with the "Free Distort" tool, but if it's possible I'd like to manipulate the text in real time so that I can line things up properly -- and also I can't save the free distorted text as a graphical style so that it can applied to any text. Isn't there an easy way to do this?

Thanks a ton!

Ok, nevermind... I figured out why my "free distort" graphic style wasn't working. I would type the text, free distort it and then add the appearance as a graphical style. This had the effect of apply the free distort, but no fill to any text I used the style on.

If I do the same thing and then in the Appearance drop-down menu I add a new fill, then save that as a graphical style it works.
