Transformer hangs during "Checking columns"

I have just re-installed Cognos Transformer 7.3 after having migrated my server to Win 2003 (formerly it was Win 2K).
The transformer application hangs when I try to build a cube: I can see the popup saying "Checking Columns" for hours without any other activity...
I have access to the DB from the application : commands like "DataSource Viewer" -> "Preview" and "Modify Columns" are working correctly.
Do you have any suggestion?

Try saving the model as a .mdl, quitting the application and then re-opening the .mdl.

Tried but not working...
Can it be something related to Win 2003? Firewall? DEP?

I would delete all temp files and restart the server if it's possible.
