I have a group of Oracle tables named GPCB in a database named SMARTP.
I wish to transfer these to MS SQL Server 2000.

How is this done?
Does the Import/Export data function create a database in SQL Server or import the tables to an exisintg database.

Urgent help is required.
Thanks,

Matt

Hi,

You have to create the destination database in Sql server200 before importing data from Oracle with DTS wizard.

Madhu.

You may use DTS Import/Export Wizard (from Start > Programs > MS SQL Server > Import/Export Data).
At first step you must chose a data source (ex. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ORACLE) and after you must chose destination (ex. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server) and ...
Succes !

Bogdan,

I started using the wizard but stopped at the point that I choose the destination database to ask the question.
once I have chosen the destination, will it create the database automtically?
Does it ask the user for a name?
Or does it import the data into an existing database?

Thanks,

Matt
