If I am at the console and a call comes in and want to transfer if to a cell phone I press 9 then the number and it calls the person but when I press release it says "CAN'T" but give me the option to CONF but I don't want to do that. Also when the console transfers any calls (IE: presses any numbers on the dialpad) the caller is put on a silent hold meaning there is no music for some reason and many people think I've hung up so they hang up before I transfer the call. Is there anyway to fix this?

Oh yea I am using the embedded ASU trunk circuits.

Make sure that the appropriate COS options 313 to 319 are enabled in the console and trunk COS. Also check for 30 device interconnection and allow appropriate devices to talk to each other.

As for MOH, you'll have to program the port in form 18 and connect a music device to it.

TERMS
1) "Console" refers to a SC1000 on a SX-200 ICP.
2) "Sub-Attendant" refers to a 4150 or futur 5220d acting as a central answering position.

During a transfer on a "console", only silence is provided. You can not turn on music during this process. It is important to note, there is no music from the point of the first digit-press and the release key press.

Also, here is an idea that I and my customers love. Let's say extension numbers are in the 2xxx range. I make my abrv. dial leading digit 5. Then I add an entry for each extension user with a cell phone, using the last three digits of their extension and they're cell number. So if someone wants call a person at extension 2467 they can call 2467 or dial their cell by dialing 5467. Customers love that feature and they also like the fact it's only one option to enable this feature from the auto attendant (great for sales/traving people who want to make a easy to use speed dial).

Unfortunately those COS options didn't help the situation I still cannot transfer a call to an outgoing CO line. I enabled in both the console COS and LS trunks COS Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

-Matt

Can you please now post the COS for the trunk. I would also like to know your software revision.

Also, please confirm your GUARD TIMER and it's NUMERICAL value. It says "NO" which indicates there is a database corruption. I'm wondering if it just wasn't cute/pasted properly.

OK, one of your problems is in Form 30. According to what you posted device 3 does not have a star when talking to device 3. if you review the form you will see that device 3 is loop start trunks. According to what you have set they are not allowed to talk to each other. Enable that connection and see if that clears up your prob. In our installations we normally enable everything and then dissallow some if there are problems.

Hope this helps.

Yay! Thank you so much. I don't know why that was set like that. But I allowed all the ones that were disallowed and it works now. Can someone explain to me how you associate which devices go with numbers or how that table works?

The Avaya Guy-- can you please explain how to set up that abrv dial thing you were talking about earlier for the cell phones with extentions?

Yes, abriv. dial. It works best if your extensions are all in one range (i.e. 2000 - 2999). Now you can say all extension start with 2.

Make your abreiv. dial a single digit (say 5). Abriv. dial is in your Feature Access Codes (FAC - form 2).

Now take the last 3 digits of your extension that has a cell phone and place it in your abriv. dial form. Make the digit string "9 + cell number."
========================================================
Lets use me for example. I'm extension 2433. My cell number is 613-591-2122.

1) Go into FAC 2 and program option 24 (abbreviated dial) and set it to 5 (or anything you want).

2) Now go into form 31 (abbreviated dial) and enter ONLY the last 3 digits of the extension (433 in my case).

3) In the DIGIT STRING field, place "96135912122" in the field (my cell number).

Now you can dial 2433 and get my desktop phone or if you know I'm out of the office, you can dial 5433 and get my cell. Moreover, you can setup the auto attendant so you can dial 5433 as well (1 option to change to permit this). Customers love it, because sales people/people on the road can have a single list of extensions. If they want they can dial either right from the auto attendant.

Matt, the settings that you had in form 30 are default. It catches everyone at least once! In order to determine which devices are affected by what number is easy. When you are in the form you will see that Option 9 says review. Select that and you will get a list of the devices and their corresponding numbers

thank you so much for your help guys! you are awesome! no offense to dealers but it is so hard to get mine to do these tedious tasks and both of you have helped me out a lot and saved a trip for him as well.

I believe the defaults in form 30 are there to protect us from ourselves. By removing the interconnect restriction between inbound and outbound trunks it makes TOLL FRAUD somewhat easier for the common theif. Not likely to hit small office systems, but once enabled you need to be aware of any potential sneak paths (i.e., from an auto attendant) or DISA and keep a watchful eye on the long distance bills. With todays cheap LD rates I see DISA more as a license to steal, but a surprising number of owners still want it.

Great I got it to work! Thanks. But is there anyway to make it work with the auto attendant? It says like invalid extention. Is it because its 4 numbers and autoatt is set for 3? Or is it because its an access code and you can't use that on the auto att?

If the users do not have ext's programmed on the system, then create "phantom exts" and set them to call forward always to the speeddial number. Make a mailbox too.

Or if the users do have a physical set onsite, when they are away they can call forward always the set to the speeddial number if they want to.

If your Auto Attendant gives you a message that the extension is invalid, that means that you don't have a valid dialing point.

If you are just needing to transfer an incoming call from the Auto Attendant to a consitent outside number, the easiest thing I find to do is to create a mailbox that is set up for transfer only to a phantom extension (you could set it up for single digit!). Then use the console to set up call forward always to a speed dial (abrieviated dial) number. This works if you need to send calls to the same number. You could also create a few speed dial numbers and then use the console to change the call forward destination as needed.

Simply change the "TNSF TO ANY" to Yes in form 49. That's all you need to do. Don't waste resources.
