Please help me!I am trying to move files to a new computer without having to enter each entry and employee and chart of account list. Is there a way to do this? I have copied files to a cd and when attempting to open chart of accounts with "openwith Peachtree"..message "chart.LCK is not a valid win32 application." Any suggestions?? Thanks

Just copy everything in the company directory to a CD, then copy that to your new PC. Is there a reason why that won't work?

If you add a new company in peachtree you can copy the chart from an existing company's setup, but I do not know about employees, vendors, etc. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Go into your Peachtree folder on your C drive. Inside that folder you should see another folder with the name of your company on it. Copy that folder to a CD-RW, ZIP drive, etc. Re-install Peachtree on the new computer. Move your copied folder into the same Peachtree folder on the new computer. Go to open company and you should see your old company available.

Most important, create more than 1 backup or copy of the Peachtree compant information before attempting anything.

Second, copy the Peachtree company folder. Usually begins with first 3 letters of company name located in C:\PEACHW unless you specified data location elsewhere during original installation.

Don't forget any custom forms...check, invoice, quote, ect.
These forms will be named INV00001, PRC00001, where the first 3 letters designate the type of form, the next 2 digits are 01 if a standard peachtree form or 00 if a custom form.

Thanks everyone, but I am still getting this error note:
"Access Denied for file 'C:\PeachW\recoulley\CONNCO.DAT.' You only have read access to this file, no updates allowed." I click on OK and get this:
"File write error in CONNCO.dat. Please have all users exit Peachtree and restart windows. If you have problems opening your company, please contact Peachtree Technical Support." Any ideas?? :)

Sounds like all of your files are tagged as read-only (This sometimes happens when you copy files from a CD to a hard drive.) Select all of the files in the folder, right click and go to properties, uncheck read-only and then Ok.
