Is there an easy way to transfer files between an a PC running ME and a PC running XP that are not on a network? I have a new PC with XP and I want to transfer files from my older PC running ME to it. Both have ethernet cards. This is a one time only transfer.

get a crossover cable, hook it up between the 2 nics. set the ip on the 1st pc to 10.10.10.2 sub 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.10.10.1. Set the ip on the second pc to 10.10.10.3 with the sub and gw the same as the first.

search for computers and in the name field pop in the ip.

(make sure the files you want to swap are shared out)

You can put the ME harddrive in the XP machine (setting it to 'slave' position --a jumper on the HD usually does this-- so it doesn't boot from it).
This is probably the quickest way.

Note: this changes your computer hardware, and XP counts all the times you change your hardware, and when it reaches a certain amount you need to re-activate it.
