Hi !

Now I need to transfer current database to a new server. File location might be different. Any steps to do that ?

Unfortunately all user information is stored in master database. Physical file location also stored there but directory struture will be different.

How can I do that ?

Pls advise ... thanks !

U may use the Data Transfer Wizard of SQL Server, It is preety easy and intuitive

I thought it is not so easy to overwrite what is in master database furthermore, physical file location is stored in master database and my file location in new server is different from the old one.

Will that cause any problem ? Thanks ..

You can transfer your database to another server using 1 of two ways
1) SQL scripts - and create the database on the user server
2) Use sp_detach_db stored procedure to detach your database from your server and use sp_attach_db stored procedure to attach it to the user server.
