Transfering a Disk backup to Tape

Greetings:

This is a newbie question. I am evaluating moving from EMC(Dantz) Retrospect 7.0 to CA ARCserve for our enterprise.

Currently we do a daily backup to disk. Once a week we transfer the backup to tape. This type of transfer permits us to restore directly from tape as if the backup had been done directly to tape (similar to Disk to Tape which I understand ARCserve supports).

What I want to do with ARCserve is to do a Full Backup once a week and transfer that to tape. The other days of the week I simply want to do a differential or incremental to disk. This would most closely replicate the system we currently have under Retrospect.

First question, can this be done under ARCserve?
Second question, if this can be done how would I do it? I can see how I would setup a disk to tape backup using staging but how would I tie that to the daily incremental or differental backup without having that backup have to go to tape as well?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

When you are setting up the backup you can set up a schedule that shows you want to do differential or incremental backups during the week and a full on friday. We currently do this through the 5 day GFS schedule. Your other question relates to using two different drives. In this all you would have to do is assign groups one for the disk drive and one for the tape drive. Then you would have to set up media pools for daily, weekly and monthly backups. Your 4 daily backups would always be disks, so you would set up the daily backups to come from your disk drive. ARCserve makes it really easy to do all this. It sounds a lot more difficult then it really is.
