Just built a new server running Microsoft Small Business server 2003 and transfered dBase yesterday. When I try to open dBase I get a

"16 bit MS-DOS Subsytem
D:\DBASE\DBASE.EXE
Invalid startup directory, plsase check your pif file."

Well I check the pif file and the path to the Config.NT and Autoexec.NT look fine and the files themselves look fine. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks - Doug

Besides making sure you copied all the dBase language files over, a couple possibilities come to mind. Are all the directories named the same or order there changes? Make sure dbase files such as config.db are modified properly. Also, does the user have rights and permissions to read and write to those areas?

Ok, i finally got it to open, but then it wouldn't run programs properly. So deleted everything and started over. Now when I pull it up everything has flashing yellow boxes on a gray background except the cursor box. I'm getting really frustrated!!!

The default color settings are specified in the config.db file. Since you're getting something unexpected, could it be that it's not finding that file? Check paths, rights and permissions.
