I upgraded an 8X24 with a NAM to a MICS 7.0 a week ago and everything went fine. Even though the NAM is 4.0, it came right up and all the VM features were working.
A few days later the customer called and said there were 3 stations that wouldn't ring when she tried to transfer an outside call to them. It was transferring the call to the phantom zone.
By the time my coworker got out there to check the trouble, no outside calls could be transferred either using the soft key or F70.
After a restart, transfer started working but it won't go to the station owner's VM after the set # of rings, instead, it goes to the auto attendant.
Dialing the set directly will allow you to go to their VM as will F986 and F980. Any Ideas?

You've openned a can of worms by not upgrading the NAM to 4.1. I don't see any point in trying to trouble shoot this set up until you do because its going to be flaky at the best of times.

According to the NORTEL books if you are running 7.0 then your voice mail has to be the CP 3.0. Powerflower do have anything saying that a NAM 4.1 will work CORRECTLY with 7.0? Because if so I know a few people that will upgrade their MICS.

I don't have the compatibilty chart, but as far as I was aware 4.1 and 7.0 are compatible. Nor do I have any customers running that set up. If someone knows different please set me straight

You may have to go into your vm with a laptop and change a prompt called "redirect dn". You want it to say no. This can only be done with a laptop. I had this problem a couple of months ago and doing this fixed the problem for me.

The guy that prefielded the upgrade said the NAM was 4.1. It wasn't until after the new system was fired up that I found out that it was a 4.0 setup. Since it was working at the outset, I assumed it was OK.
4.1 is compatible with 7.0 MICS according to the matrix.
I'll look in the NAM for the redirect.
Any of you guys have the Nortel part # for the 4.1 software fo the NAM?

My biggest question is how the NAM can affect system transfers to stations failing to ring the sets in the MICS?

Crowtalks, I literally just went through this. Basically you need to change the redirect setting like bigcat919 said, or you get the redirect dn patch disk ..

Ps : This won't help your transfers that weren't going anywhere. Maybe it just needed that reboot you gave it. But will for sure fix the external calls going to AA when they're supposed to go to a personal mailbox.

The redirect dn is only a problem with MICS 5.0 software. It is possible whacky software incompatibilities are causing other non related issues. Upgrade it to 4.1. You may still have to default and reprogram the voice mail to clean out any weird stuff.
