Setup:

IPO500v1 5.0(22), Sip trunk, 6 ip handsets 1608 (1.3000)
Unique DID for every extension.

Customer wants to hear 'busy' tone for internal calls.

Easy enough, Reserve last CA, 2 appearance buttons. presto.
Customer wants fallback to group if an external call tries to reach a busy station.
Setup forward on busy & no answer. Great.

Now when they transfer an external call to a busy station, it forwards to the group.

Makes sense, since it is in fact an external call.

How do I get a busy tone in this transfer scenario?

Priovided you have not ticked forward internals calls it I would expect it to work as a supervised transfer should be seen as an internal call

I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!

It doesn't though, in the same way it rings as an external call it gets treated as one too :)

What about using hold to check the extension as this would be seen as an internal call.

More steps but gives you what you want.

Tried that already. Same result. Hitting the transfer button is actually just a shortcut for your method.

Create a Hunt group (sequential), put in just that 1 user.
Set the overlfow time 15 or so and select an overflow group.

Point the ICR to the Hunt Group.

So external the call will overflow and internal you'll get busy.

Use this shortcode:

*33*N#

This will put the caller in the queue for that user.
when the user hangs up then the call will be presented to that user.

You can make your own shortcode for this.
So when the user is busy then press transfer, *33*extension#
Then the call is transfered.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

That's just it.

They can't see that the other user is busy.

I fixed it another way.

ICR to extension with fallback destination to group.
No fwd on no answer/busy.

Internal call/transfer equals busy tone.
External call overflows to fallback destination.
