transfer sybase table data into text format

How do i transfer sybase table data into text format
am using the BCP command with out option under unix's but it
give error as follows
DB-LIBRARY error:
Unknown fixed-length datatype encountered.

You are either going to have to use the "-c" option or create a format file.
