After I installed the 1140 set and was testing, I noticed that the transfer key is not working. When you press the key to transfer it gives the beeps similar to conference calling and will not transfer. I would like the to do a blind transfer as on the 2616/2008 sets using TRN in the programming.

Is there programming that is needed even though TRN is programmed on a soft key automatically?

Thanks for your help - I am new to the IP sets.

No, transfer is a default feature. Could be a firmware issue or the ever possible system patch being needed. Are the phones on a current firmware release? Also are you transferring to an internal number that is not going across any TIE lines or VOIP trunks. I imagine you are calling internally, but if the call is going across a TIE then the IP phones needs to have the proper TGAR and NCOS settings to access the trunk route.

Also, another possiblity is that if you are trying to transfer to a non-IP phone then there may be an issue with your DSP resources. Do you have any DSP resources configured? These could either be ITG or MC32 cards or MGC daughterboards depending on the flavor of system you have.

After you call the phoneset and press the Transfer key the 1140 display should say Call Transfer Enter Digits. If you are not getting that something is wrong with the phone programming or firmware or something. I tried external and internal as well as non-IP phone and it works like a champ. If you want to post your programming that might help us direct you better. The transfer function will be dial tone with some intermittent tone and a conference function will just give you dial tone.

Thanks for your suggestions, I had to upgrade my firmware and then everything worked.
