Transfer Programs From One Computer To Another 1

I was wondering if there was anyway that I could transfer an application from one computer to another without the software cd. I was thinking that maybe there was a way to perform an uninstall, but instead of removing all the files, it would collect all those files and somehow create a install package with them. This way I could just use that package to install the application on another machine. Is this possible? Is there software that does this?

Cheapest way would be a 4-7 dollar cat 5 crossover cable. Enable sharing on both computers and just connect the cable to each network card.

This could turn out to be extremely difficult. Most win apps not only copy files to their respective locations but also write many registry entries that will be difficult to replicate.

If this is not a Win app you have a better chabce.

thats the thing. I know i just cant copy the apps folder from one computer to the next. I was wondering if there was a way that I could copy all the files and the registry entries associated with that app, and somehow create a install package to be used later. i guess what i am saying is that i want to do a reverse install to collect all the nescisary files, but not remove those file, just copy them.

In theory it is possible, in practice it is a hard thing to do.

You would have to know and collect every required folder, registry entry, and dll file used by the program and copy them into the equivalent location.

Cloning the whole drive as an image may be easier?

Getting a duplicate CD is also a possibility.
