Nortel Options 61

Sometimes the transfer button does not appear, sometimes you can push the transfer button and the call connects to customer and sometimes it does not.

What would determine if a transfer button appears or not?

Does this only happen when trying to connect trunk to trunk or have you had this happen with internal calls as well?

It is hard to say because the users are answering trunk to trunk calls 99% of the time.

I am pretty sure that as long as transfer is programmed on the correct key it should always show up when on a call. There are options that bar trunk to trunk transfers. Post the TNB of one of the sets with the problem. Also prt NET data in LD 21 and post.

I also found this on Nortels website could be the same issue.

Symptom:
Problems when transferring calls.
3904 set not able to transfer same call twice.
3904 transfer not working properly.
Transfer softkey disappears after first transfer on 3900 set.
M3904 display is corrupted.

Problem Resolution

Fix:
Install patch MPLR16210.

Check to see if you are on the latest firmware for the phone, if so then try doing a # after you finish dialing to see if the transfer key shows up

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

I've never worked with the firmeware of telephone sets. I have two questions....

1.) How do I identify the firmeware of a set?

2.) If outdated, how do I install the firmware to a set?

You can use the FSUM command in LD 32 to see what version the sets are on and FDLU tn to download firmware to one set.

Tried that with the TN i posted. Right now the phone has a big X trought it. What did I do wrong?

ok do not upload anymore firmware! You have corrupted firmware and need to get with a vendor to get this fixed.

Nortel put out bad firmware a while back and it will kill every phone you download it to.

You didn't do it Nortel put out PBX software during a certain period of time that had issues with 3904 and 3903 firmware. Are you on release 4.5?

The problems I know about are on 4.5, but were similar issues when you downloaded new firmware it would display a big X and would not work. You are probably going to have to get the firmware reinstalled in the PBX. Until then I would not download anymore sets because once you see that big X they are unusable.
