My customer has an IP500 Rel. 5.0.8 and has the following problem--don't know if this is a bug or if anything can be done to fix it. To transfer a caller directly into a user's mailbox, the receptionist uses the #N# short code which works if she enters the user's extension on her dialpad. This method works 100% of the time. The short code also works if she presses a user button on her phone instead of entering the extension IF the target user is not on the phone. However, if the target user IS on the phone and the receptionist uses a user button on her phone instead of manually entering the extension on her dialpad the caller hears "please enter extension and pound sign", just as you would hear if you were trying to retrieve voicemail.

Any ideas?

then he/she must always enter the shortcode.
You can change the shortcode to #xxx/./VoicemailCollect/0

Then he/she does not have to press a # at the end of the shortcode.

Intrigant,

Is there any way to create a generic shortcode for this function? The only way we know of is to create a different shortcode for each user. e.g. *954 programmed as #954

On another shortcode question: our users used to dial a custom shortcode programmed as ? from a phone and get asked for their voice mailbox number, now in IP Office 5.0 this doesn't ask any more, it just logs straight into the voice mailbox of the phone you are dialling from. So we ended up having to program individual short codes for every user to retrieve their messages. Now unfortunately I cannot see a way to have a generic shortcode that lets them dial their number in with the shortcode and it uses that number that they dialled to work out which mailbox number. So every time we create a user on voicemail we have to create the shortcode for them.

the shortcode intrigrant posted is generic. You need to add it to the system shortcodes, not the user shortcodes.

the voicemail issue was discussed here.

I stand by my statement that ?Anonymous works on VMPro just not on embedded. Just remember, each user wanting to log into voicemail from a different phone, will need a voicemail password set.

See what my brain does when it's not thinking about phones.
