Hey there,

I need some help. We have Exchange 5.5 running on an NT 4.0 server. We did have a dial up connection collecting our mail every hour between 6am and 6pm Monday to Friday. After changing over to a DSL connection the server receives and sends mail as it should but still only does that between the times specified from the dialup connection. The dialup connections have been disabled under the dialup connections tab. Can anyone tell me why our mail isn't working 24 hours a day? I'd be grateful for any help because now our email is also used at weekends.

Cheers guys

In Exchange 5.5 Administrator, view your connection details under the Configuration options. Click on the Schedule tab and make sure it's set to always instead of scheduled times.

Let me know what happens,

Regards
Darren

Darren,

Thanks for your help. I don't have a Schedule tab for the Internet Mail Service that I'm having the problem with. The only connection with that tab is the Newsfeed connection which was set to scheduled times. I changed that to always but don't think it will affect the Internet Mail Service. Any other suggestions?

When I changed mine from dial-up to DSL I was advised to delete all the configuration settings after making a note of what they were, and then re-creating new ones. I was told that some of the new settings don't get picked up if you just edit them.

Also, did you re-calculate the routing?

Darren

PS: I will dig up my notes from when I changed from dial-up to DSL and see what I can find.

So how do I delete the configuration settings? Unchecking the dialup accounts reverts the schedule settings in question back to the default and I've applied that. It still uses the old settings and not the default, but it shouldn't be using either because it's disabled! I renamed the dialup accounts also so if it was looking for one it had previously used it wouldn't be there.

The routing seems to be set correctly, because I'm having no problems actually sending and receiving the mail immediately during the previously scheduled hours (which should no longer be scheduled!).
