We currently have Cisco 2600 setup in a couple of our offices. For disaster recovery, we have spare, identical routers ready. Is there a way for me to transfer the configuration from one of the production routers to the spare router so I can just hot-swap it if the production 2600 fails? Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Just grab a copy of all the configs over ftp. If one fails, ftp the config to the spare 2600 and then put it in place.

Just remember to copy the configs if you modify them.

Can you be a little more specif on the process of copying the configs via FTP? Is there more than one config file? Is there a specific application I should use to perform this operation? I am rather new to this, so I want to make sure I understand the process before performing the steps.

Thanks again for you help.

i would just do a "show run" via telnet/console.
make sure your term len is 0 (command: term len 0)
Copy/paste into into notepad.
save on desktop (optional)
paste it into the backup router via telnet/console

If your config is really long and don't feel like logging a session with term len 0 and running the 'sh run' you could copy your config to a tftp server:
Code:
copy disk2:running-config tftp:
Address or name of remote host []? x.x.x.x
Destination filename []? config.cfg
[code]
