Hi,

I have a customer that cannot transfer calls when it's ringing.

The receptionist initiate an outbound call. When it is still ringing (the other side has not answered yet!) and she tries to transfer that call without making the consultation, she clickes the transfer option, but the call drops.

IP Office Server Edition 10.0.0.5 virtualized.
tests using 1608 ip phone and analog phones.

Any help?!

You can't stop it, it's by design. It would allow transfers to peoples mailboxes when you normally wouldn't or to wrong people who happen to answer otherwise, makes sense :)

Yeah you cannot transfer what is in effect not a phone call yet. It needs both ends to be active to be transferable.

Sounds like a trunk to trunk transfer issue. system/telephony and uncheck the box that says inhibit Off switch forward/transfer

You cannot, as stated, complete the transfer until the other party answers for outside transfers.

I tried on a 9.1 system, same ip phone model, same trunks and workd, but this one doesn't work. It's not the design product

inhibit Off switch forward/transfer are off on server edition and ip office systems

It works on analogue trunks, as they're classed as answered once dialled, are you sure it's the same trunk type ?

you should be able to do it with softconsole.

There is also an inhibit trunk to trunk by user as well. If it is just one ext I would check that.

The issue happens with every extension, including IP Phones and analog phones.

Via softconsole the call does not drop but the button does not work (no action) until the call is answered.

make sure target phone not forwarded. (press to cancel all forwardings *00 )

You won't be able to transfer ringing calls. The IPO doesn't see it a a "call" yet for lack of a better term and can't control it. I have seen this on PRI in the US when users could not transfer calls that were answered because the carrier had not sent an answer supervision message that the call was answered, so the IPO wouldn't do anything with it.

2 points.

The old system Siemens Was able to do It.
I've tried in other customer with IP office 9.1 , same Trunk and same extension model and worked ok.

On what type of trunks? You're using 1608 phones so it has a hard code transfer key. On my 9608 when I make a call I do not get the transfer button to appear until the call is answered on the far end. I'm using PRI. I can't see behind the scenes as to why your other system is doing it, but I know the IPO thinks the call was answered and that's why it can do it. As for the Siemens, it probably didn't care and that was an unintended benefit you got.

And it can't be the SAME trunk, its a different customer so something is different.

Same carrier? That could be the variable. Maybe the working system is receiving a message that the call has been answered even though it is still ringing.
