Hello. I have the kx-td816. When I try to forward a call or intercom extension 104 it will not ring the extension. Seems to want to go to voicemail, but just rings and rings. The FWD/DND is set just like our other phones to busy/no answer.

I tried turning off the FWD/DND button, and it does the same thing. This phone does work, because it is used to answer incoming calls and transfer calls to the rest of us.

Any input would really help. Thanks.

try a intercom 790# at problem ext and ck incompleat call handling status if you are using auto attendant.

if you make an intercom test call from a display phone to that ext and you fwd'ing is set correctly if you watch the display you can watch when it bounces to vm ext 165 .

I tried the intercom 790# and it did not seem to do anything. It actually seemed to do a last number redial.

When I try INTERCOM 104, my display immediately goes to this:

104:MATT
VOICE

And then proceeds to ring continuously. Any other ideas?

This is pretty simple. Dial a display phone from the problem extension and read what intercom you really are. You are not 104, because if you were, it would ring.

LkEErie, Dang it! Your solution sounded so simple and so obvious that it could be missed. So, I tried it but unfortunately my display phone shows extension 104 is calling me.

Can anyone think of a reason why intercom would show going straight to VOICE, and phone calls can not be transferred to that extension?

How very odd. You claim you already dialed 790# into the intercom to undo all forwarding, you are on ext 104, the only thing left is to dial 7100. If that doesn't work, it's time to RTFM :)

A transferred call will always ring the station, regardless of the positon of the Auto Answer button in hardware or software. Then the CF rules govern how the station acts. The only other possibility is that there are different rules for intercom and trunk calls to the station.....are you testing this from the inside and wondering why they act differently than outside calls?

Just a thought.

We tried 790# - this appears to turn off forwarding. The phone still does not receive intercom with the DND/FWD light off.

LkEErie - I didn't think that extension was set up any differently, I thought it was all set up in the same trunk and group, but you think there could be something in there?

cwc3 - what do you mean by the auto answer light? I don't think the phone has one.

Ha. Well, the closest real city, Boise, is 2 hours away, and there is not even a real vendor there. I have had to wing it with a used system. Has been good until the problems with this extension.

wire up a new ext and and change the ext number to 104

just a couple of things to try

when trying to clear the settings
1. with the handset down dial 790 then lift the handset
2. press the programe button, does the display change? if no program button press the pause button.does the display change?
3. on the kxtd systems it is possible to switch off ringing
to undo this (with the handset down) ring the ext as normal, while you are doing this press the up arrow or turn the jog dial to rais the ringer volume.
4 . when you move the handset to a working ext does the phone work correctly?move the ext cable to the wall socket also.this will test handset and cable.
if all this fails let us know what type of handset you have.

Okay guys. I have some better info.
(2) of my extensions do not audibly ring for incoming calls or ring for intercom/transfers. The calls can be picked up, but all we see is the flashing light indicating a call.

I have a feeling this was set up purposefully by the previous owner - so that only the reception phone and one other would ring for incoming calls. The problem is I can't figure out how to change it.

The key to this is that the Intercom call HAS to ring the phone or you have something defective. Check the ringer switch on the side of the phone :)

It's either that, a bad phone, or a bad port.

*grin* Um, yes, it was the ... err... ringer switch on the side of the phone. I can't believe it was that simple after all this. I guess we jumped to the technical programming stuff before checking the most basic "duh" stuff.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and help.

and it only to you a month to sort it out
you should be proud at least you didn't have the tech
jeering at you!!:) lol
