I just purchased a Trans Talk 9030 cordless phone for my Merlin 820D2 system. I hooked it up and it was working fine for the first couple of days, now whenever I push the talk button, the LCL screen comes on. Besides the talk button, no other button is working on the phone. In addition, after 15 seconds the phone no longer goes into sleep mode, instead the screen will turn off and come back on and the phone will beep. Could it be the battery?

If anyone is familiar with the 9030, please let me know.

Thanks,

J.R.

Okay, I will try. Even when the handset is on the cradle, the display still will not turn off.

The 9030,9031,were pieces of crap when they were new,let alone refurbed or used. Do yourself a favor and get your money back if you still can.You are better off with a cheap analog cordless.
Just my opinion.
ps. The only thing better on the 9040's is that you don't have to replace the radio module When the phone breaks.

Yes 1043, you are 100% right. I think that this is the worst phone that I have ever purchased. I only paid 100 bucks for it, so I should have known better! I think that I will go back to my good old Panasonic cordless.

Ok, first, try this.
Hold down the select button (second row from the top, rightmost button) for three seconds, continue to hold down the button while pressing the on/off button. The handset should beep. Hold down the 7 button for three seconds, the handset should show {PRESELECTION:ON} on the display. This should solve your problem. HAve you also set the buttton mapping to fit your Merlin.

Hello,

A followup to this thread - How do I change the button mapping on a 9030? I just upgraded a system from Legend 5 to a Magix 4, and the transtalks are 9030's... They work for basic functions, but display a message saying I need to remap the buttons. I bet I get to a configuration menu as described by aussie88 above, but where to I go from there? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hold down the double arrow for 5 seconds. While keeping ip down, press the on/off button. Now press the "5", which contains the "M" button for mapping. Now use the double arrow to pick you mapping, and on/off when you are good.

(This is from memory, it's much easier on the 9040's)

Wireless test mode: Do the same power up sequence, but press 9 for Wireless test mode. 1, 2, and 3 give you signal strength, voice quality, and position in the carrier, as well as a simulated dial tone.

When you upgraded to Magix - your 9030 phones became defunct - since they were probably connected to a Legend ATL module. The Magix software doesn't recognize any analog ATL modules. It will recognize an 016 ETR and 016 T/R. You can't connect the 9030 to an 016 T/R - but it should work with an 016 ETR (an expensive module, unfortunately). Your best bet is to trade in those 9030's for 9040's - which will work with the Magix TDL cards and/or an 016 ETR.

By the way - the 9030 was pre-Magix - so you have to button-map it for the Partner - assuming you are using a TDL or 016 ETR module - but I am not sure it will work. What module do you have the T9030 ransTalks connected to?

Don't the 9040's use two different radio modules depending on whether you are connecting to a TDL or ETR? I seem to remember setting up a customer by running wire and jacks and setting it up to ETR ports, and not getting anything to work. Took a closer look at the radio module, and it was marked for use with Definity and TDL ports!

Anyway, with ETR ports, yes, button-map it as a Partner phone, since that's what an ETR actually is.

Thanks to everyone - I an always count on this forum.

I did have to add a 016 ETR, post-upgrade, to make the TT's work, as they were hooked up to an ATL board before.
