Good morning! I have been running traffice studies for the last few days on my dcs links. I have four pbx(s) 1 is the HUB and the other three are the links to the HUB (hope that makes sense). How do you first determne if you have traffic on these studies and how do you calculate the Pgrade??

help, I have never done this before and I am getting nervous, the higher ups want an answer.

thanks a bunch

What time period are you trying to capture?

There are several ways to go about this depending on if you want to use hourly info, summary info, todays peak info, yesterdays peak info, or cumulative information.

If you are using ASA to do the traffic studies (Trunk Usage/Analysis), we use ErlangB at .001 to determine the number of trunks/DS0's that are needed.

What is the capacity of each DCS link?

I am doing hourly because we want to determine if there is any traffice on these trunks due to the fact that the original "HUB A" pbx will be going away in about a year... so we have fired up all new trunks at one of the other PBX(s) that will become the "HUB". My boss wants to know if there is still traffic passing thru these trunks on "HUB A" (I hope this makes sense. I know that you can set up a schedule in the ASA to run these studies but I have no idea how to do it. Can you show/tell me step by step.

look under the "Fault & Permormance" tab in ASA, there isa selection labeled "Call Traffic", I would take a look at that :)

I was going to suggest setting up Trunk Analyzer in that same section.

okay, how do I run the reports from there, does it rint it out automatically, how do you see it?????

What type of trunks connect the sites? IP, T-1, PRI, & Analog Tie?
