Now that AVAYA and all the dealers are pushing the 8700 product line. Is there any place to still buy a traditional CM2.x, even if it's used?

Mike

Ebay and other online sites sell a little of everything. I haven't seen CM2 in particular, but I am looking for used Definity One instead. I have seen G3R, Map100, and just about everything else somewhere on the net for sale.
But maybe you were asking about a regular bricks and mortar place that will come and install one for you?

P.S. For the best response to a question, read FAQ222-2244. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Please answer all questions so that I may have the info to assist you. Leaving a post on how you fixed the problem will also be appreciated.

papagigo1,

afaik you can buy only the hardware and not the software. so legally you can't buy used pbx. considering that for any definity/multivantage/cm later than r10 you need a license, it's not worth a try.

dwalin,

I'm suggesting doing it on the up and up with AVAYA.
How hard would it be to transfer the license? If for instance you were upgrading your "TRADITIONAL" CM2.1 V12 switch to a S8700 rack mounted processor, I would buy your V12 hardware and have AVAYA transfer the license ownership?
Not everyone wants the S8710, at least from my point of view. There has to be a company or dealer that does this..

Thanks for your thoughts and response,

One thing to keep in mind on this is when you buy a used Avaya PBX, all you are buying is the hardware. The software is not transferable, it does not matter what release it is. Sure you could buy one and not tell anyone, assuming that you got a usable login. But if you ever needed support from Avaya or a Business Partner, or wanted to activate a feature that it did not come with, it would get very expensive.
