When I get to what I think should be the end of a line of type and expect it to wrap to the next line, PM keeps cramming in more type until it finally decides to break to the next line. By this time, the first line is illegible because it is so tight. I have looked at everything I can think of, and I can't seen to figure out why this is happening. Can someone give me some pointers?

Thanks,
Cynthia

What does it say in your Control Palette in the block that is to the right of the Text Size Option? You have a choice in there to change tracking.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

The compose to printer is a HP laser printer. Nothing strange about that.

Hi CynthiaD,

The problem is probably in yur setup of Pagemaker.

Open Pagemakern and without a document open press ctrl + T.
You will now get the Type specs dialog box.
On the right and to the bottom you will see an option "Line End". There are two options - Break and no Break - it has to stand on "Break".

Now each time you start a new document your problem will be solved.

All the older documents you will have to set the 'No break' to 'break' command manually. Because this option of 'No break' is stored in every file you made previously.

Hope this helps
