Sorry if this is something stupid, I am a Unix sysprog with only a vague understanding of networks.
I have a traceroute, that after reacing it's destination just keeps on going:
The target box has a hostname of OMR01, I have partially obscured the IP addresses:
traceroute to omr01 (999.999.999.20), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 999.999.999.81 (999.999.999.81) 1.510 ms 0.558 ms 0.695 ms
2 omr01 (999.999.999.20) 3.755 ms * fwl06 (999.999.999.102) 1.451 ms
3 fwm01 (999.999.999.71) 2.088 ms * 1.028 ms
4 999.999.999.81 (999.999.999.81) 2.918 ms 1.067 ms 0.941 ms
5 fwl06 (999.999.999.102) 1.554 ms * 1.809 ms
6 fwm01 (999.999.999.71) 1.148 ms * 1.357 ms
7 999.999.999.81 (999.999.999.81) 1.307 ms 1.269 ms 1.252 ms
8 fwl06 (999.999.999.102) 1.736 ms * 2.111 ms
9 fwm01 (999.999.999.71) 1.376 ms * 1.649 ms
and on and on until it dies at 30 hops.
Does this make sense to anybody, or is there an obvious problem here?
Cheers,
Mark T.
