Hi, guys!

Is there a "public domain" .app/.exe available that maybe prompts for a TPS file (or the TPS file name is passed on in as a parameter when running the EXE) and opens then automatically dumps all of the fields and records out to a delimited TXT or CSV file? It would be nice if TopScan 5.5 would do it from a command prompt but it doesn't look like it's that smart. I need to be able to automate the dumping of TPS files so I can import them into SQL Server 2008. My boss doesn't want to use/pay for the TPS ODBC driver or any other utility.

Thanks,

Wade

Hi Wade,

I have an utility program that dumps the selected columns into a Comma or Tab limited file that works on Topspeed/Clarion files. It allows you save the selections and load it the next time for extracting data. It it not yet programmed to look for the selections file in the command line but that should be easy to accomplish. I shall post here when it is done and where to download it from.

Regards

TopScan database viewer can do it by default. -> File -> Export...

uniglass, thanks, but I need to be able to schedule and run it as a batch file.

ShankarJ, that would be AWESOME!

ShankarJ, not to rush you, but do you have an idea when the utility will be ready? :) If there's a way I can get it to do multiple files separately somehow without specifying a selections file in the command line (like keeping multiple copies in separate folders or something), then I'd take it the way it is.
