How can automatic totalling at the intermediate and summary level be done for Duration1, Duration2, etc.? When using Duration, all summary levels automatically total.

However, when using Duration1, etc. automatic totalling ddoes not occur.

For some background:

The Duration of a detail task may be entered or it may be derived. If you set a Start and a Finish then Project will derive the value of Duration. If you set a Start and a Duration then Project will derive the value of Finish. If you set a Finish and a Duration then Project will derive the value of Start.

The Duration of a Summary task is always derived and is the duration between the Start of the earliest starting detail task (under that Summary task) and the Finish of the latest finishing detail task (under that Summary task).

Duration1 of a detail task is a data entry field and its contents don't depend on anything. (Unless, of course, you Customize the field and give it an equation.)

Duration1 of a Summary task is the same as Duration1 of a detail task: it's a data entry field and its contents don't depend on anything. (Unless, of course, you Customize the field and give it an equation.)

So, to answer your question: Duration1 through Duration10 are just data entry fields and the Duration1 entries of the detail tasks do not propagate up to the Duration1 of the Summary tasks.

Thank you for the reply. I found how to make Duration1, Duration2, etc. total at the summary levels.

With the field added in the table view, select the column and right click. Click Custom Fields, then click on Rollup for the Calculation For Task and Group Summary Rows option, and choose Sum from the drop-down.

I found this via Bing search, after you mentioned about customizing the field.

Thanks.
