Hi everyone

I'm having a problem with sub task durations not being totalled correctly for two of the tasks I have in my project. For Task 1, it looks like a sub task of Task 2 is being included in the calculation. I can't seem to fix this. The rest of the project is fine. I even started another project file but it did the same thing.

As an example of the problem:

Task 1 40.9
sub a 25.5wks
sub b 8.8wks
sub c 3.3wks

Task 2 40.7
sub a 3.3
sub b 37.4
The durations are fixed and are entered in weeks

If I zero out sub task C, it'll calculate correctly. Has this happened to anyone else before? I'm stumped as to what the problem is.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

thanks

There is no problem, everything is working correctly.

The Duration at the summary task level is not totalled, it is calculated (as it is for the detail tasks).

The Duration for a summary task duration is the number of work days between the Start date of the summary task and the Finish date of the summary task

The Start date of the summary task is the earliest Start date of any of its sub-tasks.

The Finish date of the summary task is the latest Finish date of any of its sub-tasks.

Yes you were correct. I kind of figured it was my inexperience rather then an error.

Thanks for the reply.
