Hi folks, I work in mapping and have quite limited Access skills (so any help from you ghurus would be most appreciated!). I'm trying to set up some tabbed forms for one-to-many data entry in which there is a household form on one and a subform for individuals in the household on a second tab. My main question for you guys is how I could add a button to the individual tab that would allow me to assign a household ID to the individual's records? I'd like it to work so that when one has the household records open in one tab that ID would be populated in the individual's entry form on the second tab. The two tables are already set up with the correct relationship. Am I lost in newbie world or does this actually make sense? Many thanks for any tips or advice you can offer.

Have a look to the LinkMasterFields and LinkChildFields properties of the SubForm object.

Hope This Helps, PH.

That should work but what may not be intuitive is that the controls for the 'Main' form go on one tab and the 'sub' form goes on another tab.

If you have trouble getting controls onto a tab...
Select them, cut them, select the tab and paste. I find when you move controls around Access often stacks them on top of the tab control instead of putting them in the tab.
