==============================

Can anyone point me to a page that details how to dismantle this particular model of Toshiba Laptop

Thanks

What are you trying to accomplish? Do you need to get into the top or bottom?

The laptop was dropped and now has a problem maintaining power, either from mains or battery. I wanted to have a look inside and see if there is any obvious damage to either the switches or the motheerboard. Before I spend £100 having it looked at and being told that it is irreparable.

Is this the type that the battery charger and power (mains) use the same plug? What happens when you try to use with the battery removed?

Yes the main supply is the charger. They both go inthe same socket.

Seems to work perfectly without the battery. Does that mean the battery is faulty or is it possibly the connectors on the board?

I have a toshiba 2410 that had a faulty battery connector. Took 2 months to be replaced under best-buys extended warranty.

Could be the battery. The battery isn't just a stack of batteries with leads coming out, they are in serial/parallel configuration with a controller board built into the battery case. I have an old laptop here that won't power-up with the battery in. Unfortunately, batteries are too expensive to "experiment" with. If it works without the battery, I wouldn't worry about it being too far gone for repair.

Thanks guys - looks like problem solved!
