I company bought two Toshiba Pro Laptops 1800-S274's, the problem with these is when the users log in to citrix the laptop freezes and forces them to do a hard re-boot. I have a 150 clients logging onto citrix and the only clients locking up are the ones using the Toshiba laptops. Has anyone else had a similar problem? If so please advise.

Our older laptop had a class action suit against it.
They gave us a patch and some moola to compensate.

Maybe you need to install the most updated bios version, or see if there is a problem with Citrix trying to map a printer or recognize the computer?

Do they have the came computer name? Maybe if they are logging in at the same time, it won't allow the same name twice?

They do not have the same coputer name...but I did update the Bios on one of the laptops today. Hopefulley that will work.

What OS are you running?
I had quirky problems with a bunch of 3000-S353s where the keyboards would fail with 2K or XP. Toshiba basically told me that I was nuts and that it must be a hardware failure and to return them to the reseller as defective (I am the reseller). Little do you know, I found a bios update that fixed the problem on all of them.
P.S.- I have no problem using ICA internally or through Nfuse.

The class action lawsuit was in regards to a problem copying data to a floppy drive. It had no relation whatsoever to Citrix or the problem described here.

I will have to concur with the suggestions made... Check for an updated BIOS available for download from the support site.

I upgraded the Bios today and tested the laptop...it seemed to work fine. But when the client got to there site she logged into citrix and tried to send and e-mail..and the system locked. I went out to the toshiba forum and did not get any help there. So if there are any other ideas please let me know. These are great machines and don't want them to go to waste.

What OS do these laptops have loaded on them?
Could it be the protocol you are using for the Citrix Client??? For some reason... I have had problems with clients when they are set to TCP/IP + HTTP as opposed to just setting them up for TCP/IP. I've had wierd things happen for both internal and external clients and have currently been playing with both setups... The IP and HTTP seems to work better for me for clients coming in from outside, where the plain IP seems to work better internally... Sorry, thats not very methodical, but all I can think of at the moment.

I am using the TCP/IP option for the clients...it's a strange thing...it has to be something local to these machines. If it was a global problem I would be getting phone calls all day from my clients. Thanks for the input, anymore would be great.

We had a problem for a couple PC's that is similar to this...this only thing we could come up with was there was a problem with SiS videi cards connecting to Citrix. Anyone who attempted to attach to Citrix and had this video card installed would freeze. These were users home PC's and we told them we wouldn't support any PC that had this hardware installed for remote connectivity. I know this doesn't help your problem, but it might be worth looking into. Just wanted to put this on the table. Mike Brown CCA

Video driver... now theres a good thought.

What resolution are the Clients setup to run and how many colors? Will the same thing happen if you try to connect at 640x480 with only 16 colors? (I realize thats probably not what you want, but it may help to isolate the problem.)

And you still haven't told us what OS ;-)

I am using XP Pro..I have not yet tried setting there resolution down that far..but I will. I think you are on to something with the video. Keep them coming.

Hmmmm.... XP. What version of the Citrix Client are you using on these laptops?

I had several problems with the same model laptop although I didn't use it at all in the citrix environment. In sheer desperation I loaded the toshiba default installation and it worked fine (I was was using same OS and drivers as the default but it didnt like it for some reason). Strangely it all worked from there.

We now have a default build for all the company computers except for this particular Tosh which has its own.... All our laptops are tosh's of various models and never had any issues prior to this.

Give the pre-build a try and see what happens....
