This is doing my head in:
I've got a Tosh portege 3480CT which had WINXP on it and i formated it and installed W2K. When it rebooted after loading it shows the windows logo screen then BLUE SCREEN with
"STOP the ACPI BIOS in this system is not compliant with specifications".
I've installed the new BIOS from Tosh and it is still doing the Blue screen dance.

Anyone help????

During the installation of the OS you might have to press F5 and select a different ACPI for that machine. Toshiba has a pretty decent support forum.

Check if ACPI is enabled, etc, in the BIOS settings. I know W98 installs differently with ACPI than without. If your power switch is an actual power switch, and win hangs on shutdown, then you have no ACPI hardware and you should set up windows accordingly.
