I'm using a PSC 1610 all in one printer. Occasionally, the top half of the printed text is cut off near the bottom of the page. This doesn't happen on the full page but just near the bottom. I've done a cleaning, alignment and have run a diagnostic page. On the alignment and diagnostic pages I get black and color bands. The top portion of the black band is cut off on both. The cartridges are about half full of ink. Should I try anything before I try changing the black cartridge??

The only way to test to see if the black cartridge has a blocked print head is t0 switch it out.

Are you using a geniune HP cartridge, a compatible, or a refill?

I find that refill cartridges do this more often by the third or fourth refill. The heads get clogged and are difficult to get clean.

Thanks for the info but the problem was with the printer. HP had me do a complete restart of the computer software after which the problem was solved. Thanks much.
