tooltips in SELECT dropdownlist possible?

hi,

i'm wondering if it's possible to assign tooltips to items within a dropdownlist control. the standard shows that the OPTION tag supports the title attribute but no rendering occurs.

any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thx!
