Hi there, does anyone know of a way to resize the taskbar at the bottom of windows (you know the start toolbar that is present when you log onto windows) I cant get it back to the default size? I can increase or decrese the size of the toolbar but the sizes dont include the default one, very annoying, any help appreciated
Thanks

Right click a blank area of the toolbar, and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar' and try again.

If this does not help, download and run this little script from MS-MVP Doug Knox:
Let the Forum know if this helped.

And, Happy Thanksgiving to you.

And there is always System Restore for these annoying things.

Thanks bcaster. However the task bar wasnt locked. And I noticed "xp taskbar desktop fixall" would you happen to know what it does to the desktop as this is a colleague's machine at work and I dont want to mess around with it too much.

Hi Linney, to be honest I havn't looked to see if system restore is on :)

Download the file and look at it.
All it does is set some registry values to what they should be under a regular XP installation.

It is perfectly harmless.
To follow on linney's suggestion above: Set a manual Restore Point through Start, Help and Support. Then apply the MS-MVP Dough Knox fix.

If there are any issues, revert by using your saved Restore Point.

I assure you what Doug is suggesting is perfectly harmless. The same fix is incoporated in the freeware portion of this excellent utility by MS-MVP Kelly Theriot:
If there was anything unusual, bizzare, or dangerous, I assure you I would not have recommended it.

Best.
