We have an HP LaserJet 8000n and it's working fine except that it has recently started saying toner low on the control panel constantly. The existing toner was shaken, the toner was changed, the printer was restarted, but the error continues, though the toner is clearly fine.
Has anyone else run into this and know what might be causing it and/or what I can do to fix it?
Thanks very much!

You have to "tell" the printer you changed the toner cartridge. Use the control panel to navigate to the menu.

Its also possible it doesn't like the toner cartridge, you might try another if you have it handy.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Matt and Rick, thank you for your suggestions.
Rick, This printer does not have anything in its menu to inform it of the toner change. Our 8100 has this, but the 8000 does not.
Matt, It started giving the message with another cartridge and I changed it, but it continued the message with the new cartridge, as well. The message goes away if I restart the printer, and even after it's been "asleep" for a bit, but as soon as it prints again, the message returns. I can try a third cartridge once one comes in, but I don't want to open too many new cartridges and have them sit. It is printing just fine, the message is mostly irritating and makes it difficult to tell when to really change the toner.

Are these toner cartridges "HP" units or a 3rd party
unit??

We have only been using HP toner cartridges. I haven't noticed the problem today...either it's become intermittent and I haven't looked at the right times, or it has cleared itself up. I will continue to keep an eye on it.
