hey
i`ve installed tomcat 4.1 and as i remember, i`ve been never asked for a password.
but when i try to connect to tomcat administration or manager, i had to login with name and pass.
i look in the tomcat-user.xml, but it`s empty.
i`ve login as root on my system(it`s suse8.0) no effect.
how can i use the tomcat manager side?
any idea`s?
bernd

go to /tomcat/conf/tomcat-users.xml

You need to create a manager role if it doesn't exist then create a user that has that role.

<role rolename="manager" />
<user username="bepepi" password="mypass" roles="manager" />

Regards, pfist
