I just downloaded Tomcat 4 and can't get it to install. It is looking for the JDK. I have it installed and the JAVA_HOME pointing to C:\jdk1.3.1_01\bin. Is this correct? I am using Windows XP. Mike Wills

JAVA_HOME should not point to the bin directory, so it would be just C:\jdk1.3.1_01 .

Okay, I tried that. It doesn't work. Mike Wills

I had similar problems and found that I didn't have my
TOMCAT_HOME environment variable set to <drive>:\jakarta-tomcat-3.2.1

That directory doesn't even exist yet. If I add it will that help? Mike Wills

I'm running into the same problem. My TOMCAT_HOME and JAVA_HOME directory are both set correctly and the binary installation of Tomcat 4 still complains it can't find the JDK. Yet I can do a java -version and it gives me the correct and only installed version of Java on this machine. It's a Win2k machine.

Any other suggestions? Tomcat 3.2 was installed and running. I tried removing the TOMCAT_HOME environment variable....still no success. Hmmm, think I'll try the .zip distribution.

I reinstalled the JDK, then it worked. Go ahead and try that. Mike Wills
