Tomcat 4.1.24 doesn't startup

Hi,

I used Tomcat 3.1 before, but now I installed the 4.1.24 release build. However, when I do a regular install (next next next) only changed the installdirectory to c:\ tomcat, startup.bat doesn't startup tomcat. The output screen immediatly dissapears again. The catalina home is set also to c:\tomcat.

Does anyone knows how to solve this?

Simple, when anything goes wrong in any installation in windows what do you do ??? uninstall and install again carefully. cool

Try to set JAVA_HOME also.

do you also have IIS running? if so stop that and start tomcat again...it would work.

or...try downloading the exe version from

http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-4.0/release/v4.1.24/bin/

and install again afresh. it would work.

well i too have the same problem installing Tomcat..
i did uninstalling it twicw & then reinstalling over my win2000 server
i have jdk 1.3..i have not set CATALINA_HOME.
Also when i type

http://localhost:8080

and press enter
IIS Documentation opens up.

i have visited the Jakarta site for Tomcat And have read and done all the steps neccessary to install Tomcat 4.1.24 given on the Website which includes editing server.xml & web.xml files ,still my Tomcat dosenot start.
