Hi guys,
Maybe 5 or 6 years ago I had a telephone number that was used to find out the RespOrg of a toll free number. The past 2 years every carrier Acct.Rep has looked at me like I have five heads when I ask about it.
It seems no one has ever heard of this unless they were an PBX administrator at least 5 years ago.
Do any of you guys remember this and more importantly have the number or similar lookup...THAT'S FREE!
(At the time Qwest was my LD carrier so I'm not sure if it was connected to their database lookup capabilities of not. But that would seem far fetch unless they downloaded the SMS800 database monthly and then hat CTI lookup behind IVR
My boss says he remembers as well and did not have Qwest.)

Can you define RespOrg - is this the company that is using the toll-free number, or the TelCo that assigned the toll-free number?

RespOrg = RESPonsible ORGanization

This is the long distance provider that has primary responsibility for the 800 number. Usually you only have one, but sometimes you can split RespOrg between two or more companies (disaster preparedness, etc).

you can try this Toll Free Number that I am using to check respborg on TFNs..1-800-337-4194...Ameritech respborg #...

That is the same toll free number to check resporg that I was given by our telecom reps also. I believe it works for all carriers.

Josh

Hey guys & gals, I found it and yes it's the same ameritech number posted here.
It's shocking to me that each carrier does not provide this service via the SMS800 database info they have.

Thanks.!
