I am looking for a resourse that can provide a list of toll free numbers that are associated with a charge number. I want to block them from being called. For example there are a toll free numbers that when dialed then direct call forward to a 900 or toll number. Does such a list exist?
Thank you

Toll free that end up at 1-900 numbers?
That would mean that you can probably sue the 1-800 provider because toll free means "toll free" and not hidden charges.

In addition, do the lines have 900 blocking?

If not, have the provider put the 900 blocking on all lines, that way any attempts to bill 900 calls on the lines should fail. If one gets thru it will be easy to have it removed from the bill by the provider. You probably should block 3rd party and collect calls also.

Or do you mean area code 809 etc. those are not toll free numbers but can have more charges attached then the regular calls to that area code.

The only toll-free number that I'm aware of that should be blocked is 888-700-0400. This number, once dialed, will allow a caller to be routed to international destinations and bill charges back to the originating number.

International rates apply to NPA 809 which has assignments in the Caribbean area for calls from the USA.

Can you provide more information on the 888 number above? What I am wondering is whether dialing this number allows the CALLER access to international destinations, or it allows some random person out in the world access, and if it would be the same rate as a normal call to that number or if it would be some inflated rate with extra cost added on.

The reason I'm asking is because I do telecom for a several site healthcare network and we typically don't do international calling so we don't have negotiated rates and I have access blocked from all but a few special phones that need access to it. For or five times a year we get a patient in here from some foreign country and the physician or designee needs to call the home country to acquire medical records, and first they have to find me to find out where they can go, and then they end up in the CEO's office using his phone or calling from the handset of the administrative fax machine or some such.

If this 800 number is actually an option for me to use to provide emergency access to international numbers I would provide it to 3 or 4 people in the organization who have a need to know, etc...

If it's some kind of scan number I'll block it.

Thanks.

I consider the number a scam, as the user thinks that they are actually dialing a toll-free number, not an international one. I've usually seen this used to route calls to the Carribean. I always block it, so I don't know what the rates would be.

Thank you all for your input. Alot of great info here. My customer is specifically referring to dialing a TFN that then routes you to a billable/charge number. I had heard that there was a published list of these numbers. It seems to me that it would be illegal to redirect to a charge number from a non charge number. I will try and get a real example from the customer.
Thanks again

thanks for the stars auntmelly and if you get the number let us know, I am nosy as nosy can be with stuff like that and weird stuff I actually retain in memory. Unlike the anniversary dates and stuff like that [BLUSH]
