I have an IP OFFICE 500 setup in a home office. The owners also have another location where they just have internet access via Verizon Fios. I want to put an IP phone at that location to ring as part of a hunt group for the main number.
I know the current phones require a VPN router in order to work with the IP OFFICE. Do I need two though? Or does the IP OFFICE handle the other side of the tunnel? I’ve never used tunnels before. How well does it work with an existing VPN router and the encryption and passphrase. Or is it easier to make a VPN tunnel (with two routers) first then just add a IP subnet to the routing table.

HELLP!!!

Also how many VCM would I need for 1 phone?

Regards,
Al

two VPN routers, one at each end. Go netgear, cheap and easy! No comments about women I know please.

or load the ip office vpn remote ipsec client and you won't need either

I try and stay away from the built-in IP Office VPN. Just my opinion..

what kind of firewall hardware are u using? i have used the vpnremote software with cisco pix and asa devices and it worked flawlessly. however, i have a copy of the beta version of the IP OFFICE vpnremote software. if u need a copy of the beta version, that can be arranged. just let me know.

You need two ends to form a vpn tunnel.

If you have a hardware vpn router at 1 end you will need something at the other.

If your hardware router is an IPSEC VPN type then you could use the IPO for the other end.
