To Pascal, reply to your answer on my query abt Calendar and subforms

Hi Pascal,

Thank you so much for helping me with my problems on creating calendar view and radiio buttons. You were right. I tried them and it works great.

However, I still encountered some problems as my client requested for some revisions, those are:

1. I added another option in my radio button so there are now more fields to hide when an option is clicked. I don't know what happened but my formula does not work. When I click an option in the radio button, some fields get hidden but some don't.

2. The values for the Time field does not get included in the calendar. There's a button in the calendar that displays all the time slots for the date. The calendar entry I made does not get inside a particular time slot in my calendar.

Also, how can I do a "highlight bar", just like the one in the inbox, that when you point at a container or folder in the navigation pane, a highlight bar appears on the selected object in the pane. Its like a mouse-over action.

I don't want to come off as snobbish, but it is not good form to post a question for a specific person. You are asking a community. Also, if you want to answer a post, reply in the thread of the original post.
Remember that the entire Tek-Tips community can be of help, not just me. Posting a question for me is unfair for the expertise of all the other valuable contributors on TT forums. Besides, if I am incommunicado for a week, who knows when someone else will try to answer your question if you direct it to me ;-)?

Okay, back to work now :
1) Hide-When formulas need to be extensively tested unless they are very simple. As soon as you have more than one condition, you must always remember that the formula you are typing will HIDE IF TRUE. Sometimes, the combination of ANDs and ORs can get confusing, resulting in seemingly randomly-disappearing lines.
Also, less frequently, Notes can "screw up" in saving the H/W formulas. If you are 100% sure your formula is right, then cut it from the object, save and quit your form, reopen it and paste it back. Save and quit again. Then test. It should work if your formula is good.

2) Check the calendar view you made in the Designer. If the document shows up, you can often determine what value is wrong and deduct how to correct it.
Also, check your own mailbox calendar view. Make some appointments/meetings if you don't have any. Then compare the field values with yours. It is the best way to find out how to transcribe your values correctly.
Often, errors happen in the way you set the time values. They have to be a multi-value RANGE.

3) View highlighting is done with an Outline included into a Page. Normally, all this should be set into a Frameset. So, first make an Outline and edit it to ressemble the views you want to display. Then, make a Page and include the Outline. On the page, you can set color properties for clicked/moused/nothing conditions. After, you can either use the page as a replacement Navigator, or create a Frameset and place the Page in the menu frame.

I did not mean to be unethical in the forum. I just thought that it has been a while since you replied to my post (which helped me a lot) and was not able to thank you well. That if I just reply or post a new one (without addressing you specifically), you might not be able to see it. But you're right, having done that is rather rude and unfair to others. I appreciate you acknowledging that.

I understand your concerns, but did you notice that there is a "My Threads" option in the menu on the upper left ?

I always check that option first thing, it enables me to keep track of any update in any thread that I have participated in.

Even the old ones ;-).

In any case, you answer is perfect. I am glad you took my observations in the right light. I'm sure everyone else will understand.

About your answers,

On num. 3 (about highlighting), I have already tried the procedure you suggested, and it works. However, the kind of highlighting I'd like to achieve is the one like in NotesMail v.6 or 6.5. When you point at a container or folder in the navigation pane of your inbox, there's a highlighting box over the container or folder. I tried dissecting the forms and the views in Designer. I tried if its an XML formula or a navigator. But I really can't seem to find in my Notes Mail how it was done. How should i do this?

When you are on the page of your menu, double-click the embedded outline to get its Properties box.

Go to the third tab (the color manager) and click the drop-down button marked "Control Background". Choose the top- and sub-level colors for "moused" and you will get the desired effect.
