to get back to the root directory

say im in the home directory which is localed in root, from home's index i want to access a file which is in the download directory located in root. meaning, that a href= someway to get to root then /download/game.zip. thanks guys.
 
You would need FTP permission, unless they have set it viewable to the general public via the browser.

i am the webmaster. the server is on my computer. this is how it is set up.

+htdocs (root)
L----> home (where docs are stored)
L----> license (where the diffferent licenses are stored)

im in home on a file called download.html, and i want to access bsd.php in license.

How do i do this?
 
In unix, .. means the parent directory. So in your example...

<a href=&quot;../license/bsd.php&quot;>BSD</a>
