/tmp is taking a spike on our production and the swap space availability is getting reduced, and causing cluster failover.

Have you done any diagnostics on your applications or whatever else might be causing this. I think that's the first step before we start throwing extra space at it. Is it a recent development (ie has the system operated fine for a time until now?). More info. please.

This is a new incident. Application wise nothing has changed. The strange situation is as we hear from the Sys Admins that they do not delete anything, the space gets released on its own. Any suggestion what we could do from development standpoint to monitor what is causing this situation.
