Does anyone know how to start the scheduler from outside of the TM program. I am trying to setup Whats up to restart the scheduler service when it goes down. I have it getting my traffic analysis stuff every hour and don't want to lose anything.
The Scheduler is an application that is launched from within TM, so as far as I know, you need to be logged into TM in order to start it.
If you are using DBA to collect CDR and Traffic, then those reports & Records are buffered to the switch if the TM server is not connected, then downloaded when connectivity is re-established.
Yes. You must use the scheduler to parse the info into TM, but where is the scheduler getting the data from? Does your job run hourly and get the data directly from the switch, or is the traffic data buffered in a file that TM can then access periodically?
I manage 11 CS1000 sites with a single TM server, and use data buffering for all sites CDR and Traffic. I collect and cost my CDR records once a day, and also parse the traffic reports for each site once a day. I have never had a problem doing it this way.
When I only had 1 or 2 sites managed by TM, I used to just collect and parse traffic hourly, but it became a hassle if the job didn't run for some reason, or the system was not available. DBA is more convenient and reliable for me.
If you have IP connectivity to your PBX, then from the TM Server, and from the main TM Navigator window, click on Utilities, and select Data Buffering & Access from the list.
When the DBA application window opens select File --> New Session.
Select the system you want to monitor from the system tree and click OK.
In the Session Properties window make sure all of the appropriate fields are filled out for your system, and the type(s) of data you want to collect have their check boxes checked.
Click on the Connect Now button to start the session.
A new window should open with the system name you are connected to with the text '(Connected)' in the windows title bar. The data will be stored in the file 'detail1.img' located in the system folder in the 'Common Data' TM folder. It may take a while for the file to show up, so don't panic if it's not immediately visible, especially if you are only collecting traffic.
For Traffic collection, open a system window for the system you are working with and navigate to the Traffic Analysis application.
Choose File --> Traffic Data Collection. And check the 'Schedule Traffic Parse' check box then click OK.
Fill out the Scheduling window. Choose an appropriate interval (I use Daily) for when TM should parse the traffic reports. Click OK.
Your job should now be in the scheduler, and will run based on how you filled out the window.
