Greetings from a novice!

I've got a guy who would like to strangle the Mermail Lady. We explained how he could turn off remote notification and how it turns itself back on when you log in to your box, but that's not the entire issue for him.

Is there a way to control the timing of the notifications while leaving the feature enabled? For example, is it possible to delay the initial notification, so that 10 or 15 minutes pass before the target is notified?

Actually, if anybody can tell me which book to dig into, I'd be eternally grateful...

make his cos personel and modify the remote notify per. to satisfy the one user, it will still call him as soon as a msg is received, but you can change the retry times and freq. with his class as per. your only changing one user

Gotcha. Thanks!

I did stumble across a prompt under the RN class of service (default 01 of 15) for delay, but it wouldn't let me change it. Any way to modify that?

look at you system params and see you if you need to allow that prompt to be flexable. i am not at work or i would help you find it.

Hmmm, looked again and changed my mind...don't think it's the delay I need. Probably best to leave it alone and cluck sympathetically when he complains. ;-) Very helpful to know how to change the retry/freq, though. Thanks so much for your help!

john poole mentioned the Class of Service. This is where you would change this option and changes will affect all users assigned this Class of Service. That is why John said to assign this one user a Personal Class of Service.

You can assign different CLS in the users mailbox and by selecting the View More Key can look at but not change features.

You can change Class of Service features from the main menu select Class of Service administration, Select F8 to view modify, enter the CLS number to be viewed or modified.

when you change a user to PERSONAL.. changes only effect one mail box. but you did make a good point. more detail key will not change a cos unless it's a personal class of service, otherwise you need cos admin, and it does change all users not just one
