Let me qualify I know very little about this process, but am trying to troublehoot. Keep getting this error

KRESP1DOSequence.K512.JobControl (@PossibleResponseUnsourced): Controller problem: Error calling DSRunJob(KRESP1DO.K512), code=-14
[Timed out while waiting for an event]

Can anyone give me a place to start looking?

I have seen this happen when there are "too many" Data Stage jobs running at one time. It gets confused and gives this message. There could be (and probably are) other reasons, of course.

Depends on your server and what else is running and what degree of dedication of resources those processes have (database for instance). I hit it on a 2 processor Sun Unix box when trying to run about 10 Data Stage jobs at one time.

We are running on Windows 2K3 it is a box dedicated to running ETL. It is an IBM quad with 32gb of RAM

I just found out that sometimes there are 21 jobs running when we get this time out....does that sound high. again i know very little about the software and how intensive it is. Thanks for you help

21 jobs does sound a little high esp. since you have not mentioned how complicated the ETL is. I would set up the jobs in a sequence, once after the other and run, say, 5 or 6 "job chains" within the sequence.

Job A --> Job B --> Job D --> Job F -- Job G
Job C --> Job E --> Job M --> Job N --> Job x
Job J --> Job K --> etc

I think you get what I mean by job chains, which is not an official Data Stage term.

21 jobs is really high. You may check the CPU utilization at that time and also the network utilizaion

rpatkable,

"We are running on Windows 2K3 it is a box dedicated to running ETL. It is an IBM quad with 32gb of RAM"

Why would you say that this box is dedicated to running ETL. What is it about the box that makes it special when it comes to running ETL ?
