every couple days i notice that the time on my computer is slow, so I just syncronize it with the internet. How can I increase the auto update interval or fix the time problem?

Do you leave your system on for days at a time, or do you usually reboot daily?
There are 2 clocks you need to be concerned about. Of course, there is your Quartz BIOS clock on your motherboard that is always powered by the CMOS battery. When you boot Windows, it launches a "software" clock that synchronizes with your BIOS clock. After Windows finishes loading, it will never synchronize again with your BIOS clock unless you reboot or change the time.
That said, the solution depends on how long you leave your system on and whether apps running in the background are eating up all your resources. Software clocks are not extremely accurate and normally start to fall off every 4-5 days when left on continuously. Start by answering these questions:
- What OS are you running? I'm assuming XP HOME or PRO.
- Do you log into a network or domain?
- What kind of hardware config do u have?
- As soon as you notice your time is off, reboot your pc without logging back onto the network. Is the time back to normal?
The answer to that last question is extremely important - before you run off and buy a new CMOS battery.
