Hi everyone,

I was wondering how I would go about doing this.

My company needs to track the amount of time a designer spends on a specific project in PowerPoint. What I would like to do is when the designer opens PowerPoint a dialog box would appear and prompt them for a project code and user id. This dialog box would take the current time and date (pretty much a timestamp) and enter it into a specific file or database. When the designer finishes work and closes the Powerpoint, the utility would take the ending timestamp and record it in the specific file or database.

Would this be done by macros?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Sure , have the dialog box do its thing. When done (and the file opens for editing), whave the macro write a little text file that records the NOW function. In document close, write to the same file, again using NOW, on a second line. Voila and NOW for start, and a NOW for the end.

Gerry

Thanks Gerry for your help! Now is it possible for me to run this macro every time the user opens PowerPoint (PowerPoint 2003 in this instance)? This macro should run every time PowerPoint opens and not for a specific file in general.

Thanks again for the suggestions!
